namo mañjuśriye ||

mugdhāṅgulīkisalayāṅghrisuvarṇakumbhād
vāntena kāntipayasā ghusṛṇāruṇena |
yo vandamānamabhisiñcati dharmarājye
jāgartu yo hitasukhāya sa mañjunāthaḥ ||
suhṛdāmanurodhena yathāmati yathāsmṛti |
hriyaṃ vihāya likhyante vādasthānāni kānicit ||

tatra tāvadādau jātivāda eva nirākriyate | iha yadvastuno bhedābhedābhyāmabhidheyaṃ na bhavati tadvastu na bhavati | yathā vyomakamalam | na ca vastuno bhedābhedābhyāmabhidheyaṃ sāmānyamiti | vyāpakānupalabdhiḥ | na tāvadayamasiddho hetuḥ | na hi vyaktibhyo bhinnamabhinnaṃ vā sāmānyaṃ śakyamabhidhātum | ubhayathāpyasāmānyātmatāsvabhāvaprasaṅgāt | tathā hi yadi tāvadvyaktibhyo'rthāntarameva sāmānyābhimataṃ vastu tadā kathaṃ tattāsāṃ sāmānyaṃ nāma | yat khalu yato'rthāntaraṃ na tattasya sāmānyam | yathā goraśvaḥ | arthāntaraṃ ca gorgotvamiti | viruddhavyāptopalambhaḥ | nanu ca vyaktibhyo'rthāntaraṃ ca syāt sāmānyaṃ ca tāsāmiti | na virodhamiha paśyāmaḥ | na caitanmantavyam | arthāntaraṃ cedarthāntarasya sāmānyaṃ sarvaṃ sarvasya sāmānyaṃ syādviśeṣābhāvāditi | yaddhi khalvekaṃ vastvanekatra samavetaṃ tattadīyaṃ sāmānyam | goṣu cāśvo na samaveta iti kathamasau gavāṃ sāmānyaṃ syāditi kuto viśeṣābhāvaḥ | tadayamanaikāntiko hetuḥ kathamiṣṭasiddhaye paryāpnuyāt | tadetadapi bālapralāpamanuharati | sa hi viśeṣo buddhimatā vaktavyo yaḥ sāmānyābhimatapadārthamātrabhāvī sannasaṃkareṇa vyavasthāmupapādayet | ayaṃ cānekārthasamavāyaḥ saṃkhyāsaṃyogakāyadravyādiṣvapyastīti tānyapi sāṃkhyādisaṃmatāni sāmānyāni syuḥ | athaivaṃ manyethāḥ | satyapyanekārthasamavāye yadeva samānajñānābhidhānapravṛttinimittaṃ tadeva sāmānyaṃ nānyat | samānānāṃ hi bhāvaḥ sāmānyam | bhavato'smādabhidhānapratyayāvitibhāvaḥ | tadāha | ...........( ) samānajñānābhidhānaprasavātmikā jātiriti ( ) | etadapi svaprakriyāmātrapradīpanam | tathā hyatra vikalpadvayamudayate | kiṃ te svarūpeṇa samānāḥ [ 2b ] .......( ) torutpannāyeṣu tatsāmānyaṃ tathāvidhabodhābhidhānapravaṇam | āhosvidasamānā eveti | tatra yadi te svata eva samānāḥ saṃmāne jñānābhidhāna .....( ) meva pravartayiṣyanti | kiṃ tatra sāmānyenārthāntareṇa | tathā ca tadasāmānyameva | tadbalena samānayorjñānābhidhānayorapravṛtteḥ || athasamānāḥ, na tarhiī teṣāṃ sāmānyamasti samānānāṃ bhāvaḥ sāmānyamityuktavānasi | asamānāṃ ca bhāvaḥ sāmānyamiti bruvāṇaḥ ślāghanīyaprajño devānāṃpriyaḥ | svayamasamānasvabhāvā api te naiva samānāsta iti cet | kiṃ te kriyante | athā'dhyavasīyante | tatra na tāvatkriyante | teṣāṃ svahetubhireva kṛtatvāt | kṛtasya ca punaḥ karaṇāyogāt | abhūtaprādurbhāvalakṣaṇatvātkaraṇasya samānātmanā kriyanta iti cet | nanu yaiṣāṃ niṣpannatayā kṛñaḥ karmatā nāsti kathaṃ te kriyante nāma | syādetat, yena dharmirūpeṇa te niṣpannā na tena karoteḥ karmabhāvamanubhavanti | samānena punā rūpeṇa [ 3 a ] niṣpannāstena kriyanta iti na kiṃcidatrānupapannam | evaṃ tarhi tadeva samānaṃ rūpaṃ sāmānyena kiyata iti syāt tasya ca bhāvaniṣpattāvaniṣpannasya kāraṇāntarataḥ paśvādupajāyamānasya tadbhāvatā brahmaṇāpyaśaktā sādhayitum | arthāntarameva tadbhavatu, na kiṃcidaniṣṭamāpadyata iti cet | sāmānyāntarameva tarhi tannetyasāmānyajanmamabhyupetaṃ syāt | tathā ca tadapi bhedānāmasamānānāṃ kathaṃ sāmānyamiti paryanuyoge tenāpi tadvyatiriktasamānarūpakaraṇopagame satyaparāparakarmasāmānyaparikalpanātmakamanavasthānamapratividhānamāsajyate na ca bhedānāmasamānarūpaṃ pracyavate | nāpi dvitīyapakṣaśrayaṇaṃ śreyaḥ | na hyanyenānye samānā nāma pratīyante tadvanto nāma pratīyeran | bhūtavatkaṇṭhe guṇena | anyathā hi yena kenacidapyanyena ye kecana samānāḥ pratīyeran pratiniyamanibandhanābhāvāt | ekenānekasamavāyenānyenānye samānāḥ pratīyante, tato nātiprasaṅga iti cet | vārtametat [ 3 b ] na hyavayavidravyadvitvādisaṃkhyānāmapyekatvānekasamavāyitve na staḥ | yena tebhyo'vayavādayo na gamyeran | atha teṣāṃ svāśrayeṣu samānajñānābhidhānasāmarthyābhāvādadoṣa eṣaḥ nanu sāmānyamapi bhedeṣvekatvānekasamavāyābhyāmeva samapratyayahetutayā parikalpitam | tau vā'vayavyādīnāmapi yuṣmābhirabhyupetāviti teṣāmapi tathābhāvaḥ kathamapākiyeta | asāmānyasvabhāvatvānna te samānajñānahetava iti cet | nanu samānajñānāhetutve satyasamānasvabhāvatā | tasyāṃ ca satyāṃ samānajñānāhetutvamiti sphuṭamitaretarāśrayatvam | tathā hyekatvādeḥ samānatvātsāmānyābhimatabhāvavadārabhya dravyāderapi kiṃ na sāmānyarūpateti paryanuyoge samānapratyayāpratyayatvādityuttaramuktavānasi | tatastadapi samānapratītinimittasya samānatvātsamānamavayavyāderapi kiṃ na syādityasmadīye punaḥ paryanuyoge sanyasāmānyarūpatvāditi bruvāṇaḥ ............ ( ) nekaṃ ca brūyāt | tasya ca sākṣādekatvanityatve pratijñāya punarupadeśāntareṇa tata eva prativahatīti kathaṃ nonmataḥ | tasmādbhedāmedābhyāṃ .... [4 a] ( ) sāmānyamiti siddham | nanvayamanaikāntiko hetuḥ | yadyapi hi sāmānyaṃ bhedābhedābhyāṃ kevalābhyāṃ vācyaṃ na tathāpyavastu prakārāntarasyāpyubhayātmanā lakṣaṇasya saṃbhavādbhinnābhinnameva hi sāmānyaṃ jainajaiminīyāḥ pratijānate || yadāhuḥ ||

ghaṭamaulisuvarṇārthī nāśotpādasthitiṣvayam |
śokapramodamādhyasthyaṃ jano yāti sahetukam || 1 ||

na sāmānyātmanodeti na vyeti vyaktamanvayāt |
vyetudeti viśeṣeṇa sahaikatrodayādi sat || 2 ||
yathā kalmāṣavarṇasya yatheṣṭavarṇavigrahaḥ |
citratvādvastuno'pyevaṃ bhedābhedāvadhāraṇā || 3 ||
yadā tu śabalaṃ vastu yugavatpratipadyate |
tadānyānanyabhedādi sarvameva pratīyate || 4 ||
ekātmakaṃ bhavedekamiti neśvarabhāṣitam |
tathā hi tadupetavyaṃ yadyathaivopalabhyate ( ) || 5 || iti ||

atra pratividhīyate [4 b | bhedābhedayoranyonyapratiṣedharūpatvādekavidheraparaniṣedhanāntarīyakatvātkathamanayorekādhikaraṇatvaṃ mattonmattetaraḥ pratipadyeta | tathāhi | tannāma tasmādabhinnaṃ yadeva yat | bhinnaṃ ca tattasmādyadyanna bhavati | ataśva vyaktibhyaḥ sāmānyaṃ bhinnamabhinnaṃ ceti bruvāṇo vyaktayaḥ sāmānyaṃ na ca vyaktayaḥ sāmānyamiti brūte | kathaṃ ca svasthacetanaśvetasyapi tadetadāropayet | prayogaḥ | yadyadevaṃ na tadatadbhavati yathoṣṇaṃ vahrirūpaṃ nānuṣṇam | vyaktaya eva sāmānyamiti svabhāvaviruddhopalabdhiprasaṅgaḥ | ubhayathā pratīterubhayopagama iti cet | nanu pratītirapratīterbādhikā na tu mithyāpratīteḥ | vitathasyāpi pratītidarśanāt | anyathā hi pratītiyathānusāriṇā bhavatā dvicandrādayo ... ... ... vaśātte nihnūyansa iti cet | ihāpyetadanumānamasiddhyādidoṣatrayarahitaliṅgajaṃ kiṃ na paśyati devānāṃpriyaḥ | [ 5 a] na saṃvido yuktibhirasti bādheti cet | nanu kimiyaṃ rājñāmājñā yenāvicārya gṛhyeta pratyakṣasvabhāvā saṃvit | tacca jyeṣṭhapramāṇamato na bādhyata iti cet | na tarhi tadanumānaṃ pramāṇaṃ syāt | lakṣaṇayukte bādhāsaṃbhave tallakṣaṇameva dūṣitaṃ syāditi sarvatrānāśvāsaḥ | yathānumānābhāso bādhyate pratyakṣābhāso'pi kiṃ na bādhyate | bādhyatāmadhyakṣābhāsaḥ | pratyakṣaiva punariyaṃ saṃvittistatkathaṃ na bādhyata iti cet | nanviyamapi pratyakṣābhāsavānumānena bādhyamānatvāt | atha pratyakṣameva pratyakṣasya tadābhāsatāṃ bādhyatvātsādhayati na tvanumānamityabhiniveśaḥ | kathaṃ tarhi jvālādiviṣayāyāḥ pratyabhijñāyā vyaktyapekṣayā pratyakṣābhāsatā vyavasthāpyate | na khalu jvālādīnāmakṣaṇikatvamadhyakṣamavadhārayet | tasmādanumānameva jvālādīnāṃ kṣaṇikatāṃ sādhayet | bādhakametasyā ityakāmakenāpi kumārilenābhyupetavyam [6 a] | na śakyaṃ vaktuṃ sāmānyameva kevalaṃ tayā viṣayīkriyata iti tathābhāve hi tadevedaṃ buddhijvālātvamiti syāt na tu saiveyaṃ jvāleti | tasmānnānaikāntiko heturityalaṃ bahubhāṣitayeti || || jātinirākṛtiriyaṃ jitāripādānām ||
